For the rest of this year, Rachel and Mary Evelyn will be enjoying volume 4 of Five in a Row together. This splitting them into two levels is for the birds. I can't keep up...so next week they will enjoy Snowflake Bentley together. I doubt we'll be fortunate enough to have more snow to go with this study, but at least we have recent snow memories. AND...at Michael's I bought some snow! I don't know what it is exactly, but supposedly if I mix it with water I will have a gallon of snow. This will have to do for now. I bought 3 boxes of it so each girl can play with her own little gallon of snow. (Betsie joins us for the fun stuff, of course.)
Also, for the remainder of the year my girls are taking ART LESSONS! They are loving it! And wouldn't you know it, the lady who is their teacher lives waaaaaay out and has chickens among other animals. So we do the art lesson and then feed and chase chickens. Do you think Mary Evelyn is loving that or what? It takes us half an hour to get there, so there is some good car schooling going on as we listen to books on tape.

My kids enjoyed that book. the library has another storybook called The Boy Who Loved Snowflakes, which is also about William Bentley.
Sounds great, Jen! We also enjoyed learning about Bentley. I got the girls disposable cameras and let them practice/learn how to use a camera a little bit...and let them take pictures of nature things to try and be like the little boy in the book. :)
The art lessons sound wonderful, too!! :)
Aaah! Then, I'm not crazy? With everything else to do, I started working on school planning for 2008-09. Why? I couldn't begin to tell you. :)
We are getting ready to row Snowflake Bentley too Jen. We just finished Stopping by woods a couple of weeks ago. We too did the instant snow. It is really neat! :-)

We just learned about Bentley in our co-op photography class. We are in GA so no snow for us! We made our own. We bought the blizard in a kit, just add water. Thee kids were amazed and we made paper snowflakes for a art tie in as well!
